It is a place surrounded by greenery and located on the top of a mountain from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lake, where you can listen to the soul of a distant era experiencing its essence and enjoying the beauty that surrounds it.

 

At the end of the Belle Époque and the Can-can era, as Puccini describes and draws inspiration in one of his best-known works, La Bohème, the emotions of the bohemian poets are still vibrant.

At that time the Liberty Style, also called Art Nouveau in France, takes shape: a spontaneous and joyful rebellion made up of soft lines, floral motifs and exotic inspirations as opposed to the rigor of nineteenth-century neoclassicism and positivist thought.

 

In this context, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the construction of the Palace Grand Hotel in Varese takes place.

Designed by Architect Giuseppe Sommaruga, it was inaugurated in 1913.

 

The structure hosts the essence of the Liberty thought and returns it to the guests in a thousand details: the capitals of the colonnade reproduce heads of lions, thick branches frame and soften the clear lines of the building, a wrought iron staircase draws us into a vortex in where the perception of space and time is lost, itself a treasure of artisan excellence that is worth the stay.

 

 

In that same period the use of the car spreads, the first Touring Clubs was founded, the European bourgeoisie moved naturally between one country and another, attending the main tourist spots.
